DIY ROOF TRACER

§ MEASUREMENTS3 min READUPDATED 2026-08

Trace a roof yourself in the free full-screen tracer when you want hands-on control over the measurement.

Sometimes you want your own hands on the measurement — to double-check a number, to work a roof you know well, or because you would rather trace it than trust a pipeline. The DIY roof tracer is built for exactly that: a free, full-screen tracing workspace on the MEASUREMENTS tab.

WHERE: CUSTOMERS → open a customer → MEASUREMENTS tab → TRACE

§Open the tracer

  1. 01Open the customer and go to the MEASUREMENTS tab.
  2. 02Tap TRACE — the tracer opens full-screen so the roof gets your whole display.
  3. 03Trace the roof, then save your work.

Like the automatic pipeline, tracing is free — there is no per-trace charge, so use it as often as it earns its keep.

§When to trace instead of running automatic

  • You want to verify or sanity-check an automatic result with your own eyes.
  • You know the roof and want direct control over what gets measured.
  • You prefer producing the measurement yourself before putting a number in front of a customer.

The two approaches are not either/or. Running + NEW MEASUREMENT and tracing the same roof costs nothing extra, and agreement between the two is a strong signal the numbers are right.

§Where your traced measurement lives

A saved trace becomes a row in the same measurement hub as every other measurement on the customer, and opens into a measurement report detail like the rest. The hub updates in real time, so your result is immediately visible to the whole team.

TIP
If a traced measurement needs to carry certified weight — for a carrier or a contract — order a certified report as well. See “Certified measurements” in this category.
