The settings behind the payment link and the portal Pay button — accepted methods, link behavior, the confirmation page, and reminders.
When you email an invoice, the customer gets a payment link; when they open their portal, every open invoice carries a Pay button. Four company settings decide how that experience behaves — which methods you accept, how long links live, what the customer sees after paying, and when reminders go out.
§Accepted payment methods
ACCEPTED PAYMENT METHODS is the master list of how your company takes money: cash, check, ACH, credit card, and financing. Turn off anything you do not take — the methods you enable are the ones your team records payments against and your customers are offered.
§Payment links
- ◆Link expiry days — how long a payment link stays live after it is sent.
- ◆Partial payments — whether a customer may pay part of the balance instead of the whole amount.
- ◆Tips — whether the checkout offers a tip on top of the balance.
📤 EMAIL.§The confirmation page
PAYMENT CONFIRMATION PAGE controls the moment after a successful payment: whether the customer lands on a receipt page, whether an email confirmation goes out, and the thank-you message they read. A clear receipt here is what prevents the "did it go through?" phone call.
§Payment reminders
PAYMENT REMINDERS turns automatic reminders on or off and sets the day offsets for the first, second, and final notice. Once configured, unpaid invoices get nudged on your schedule without anyone keeping a list.
§What your customer experiences
- 01You send the invoice with
📤 EMAIL— the payment link rides along. Portal customers also see the invoice on their portal’s Invoices tab with the remaining balance and aPaybutton. - 02The customer opens the link and pays through a secure hosted checkout — the full balance, or a partial amount and a tip if you allow them.
- 03They land on the confirmation page, get the email receipt if enabled, and the invoice flips to
PAID— orPARTIALif a balance remains.
