A tab-by-tab tour of the homeowner portal so you know exactly what your customer can view, sign, pay, and upload.
The customer portal is a branded site carrying your company colors and logo. The homeowner opens it from the password-less link you send — no login, no app install. It has nine tabs, each with a live badge count, plus quick actions on the landing view. Knowing what is on the other side helps you answer "where do I pay?" and "where do I sign?" without a screen share.
§The nine tabs
| Tab | What the homeowner can do |
|---|---|
| Overview | Tiles for Balance Due, Active Jobs, To Sign, and Messages, plus quick actions: Pay a bill, Upload a document, Share photos, Message us. |
| Jobs | Read-only project list — title, number, trade, scheduled date, scope, and status. |
| Invoices | Each invoice shows its balance with a Pay button that opens secure hosted checkout for the remaining amount. |
| Estimates & proposals | Full line items and total, with Accept & sign or Decline. |
| Contracts | Status pill (Signed / Awaiting signature / Declined) with a "Review & sign →" link to the signing page, and View for signed documents. |
| Documents | Everything you have shared, plus an upload zone for the homeowner’s own files. |
| Photos | Shared photos in a gallery with stage and type tags, plus an upload zone. |
| Messages | A two-way thread with your company. |
| Reports | Inspection, damage, hail, and building-code report PDFs you have shared. |
§Paying and signing
From Invoices, the Pay button takes the homeowner to a secure hosted checkout for the invoice’s remaining balance (or the invoice’s payment link). From Estimates & proposals, accepting is a real signature: the homeowner either types their name, which renders in a script face, or draws their signature on a canvas. Declining requires a reason, so you always learn why. Contract signing links out to the dedicated e-sign page — see "What your customer sees when signing" in the Estimates + Contracts category.
§Uploads flow back to you
The portal is two-way. In Documents, the homeowner can upload PDFs, Office files, and images (including HEIC) up to 25 MB, and their files carry an "Uploaded by you" badge on their side. In Photos, the upload zone opens the camera on mobile. In Messages, they can send text and attachments up to 15 MB, with images shown inline and Enter to send.
§What is not in the portal
Appointment invites are handled outside the portal. When you schedule the customer, the invite email carries CONFIRM / RESCHEDULE / CANCEL buttons that open a separate appointment page — its own link, so the homeowner can respond without ever opening the portal. Rescheduling from that page updates the same invite rather than creating a duplicate. See "Schedule a customer" in the Calendar category.
OPEN AS CUSTOMER → and click through all nine tabs. Two minutes of checking beats a confused phone call about a photo you did not mean to share.
